To gain access to all locked features, such as Plus study plans, the language & themes tabs, AI chat or access to unlimited searches/scans, you likely need to unlock Scripture Scanner Plus. You can do that here.
Unfortunately lots of modern Bible translations are copyrighted so our list is currently limited. However we have plans and are working on bringing these translations to Scripture Scanner.
Use the Reset Welcome Tours button above. After resetting, the page will refresh and the welcome and results tours will show the next time those screens appear.
Tap the dotted scan upload area, take a photo of your bible passage, then optionally highlight a narrowed down area, before submitting. We'll extract the text and generate your study results.
All our content is powered by trusted sources like bible commentaries, theology books, concordances etc. The AI pulls together these sources when creating the content. See the sources we use.
However, AI is not infallible and the Bible should always be your source of truth. We don't want to tell you what to think but rather point you towards popular interpretations of the text.
You can search pretty much anything, try specific verses (e.g. John 1:1-5), describe a verse you want (e.g. 'Jesus clean disciples feet'), or even by a theme/topic you want to explore (e.g. anxiety, forgiveness). We will pick the most appropriate verse(s) for your search.
On the results screen, near the bottom use the Ask Anything AI chat to ask anything related to your selected passage to unlock even deeper insight.

About
Our study tool Scripture Scanner helps you go deeper into any passage without changing the way you already read or study. Designed to help you quickly engage deeply with the Word of God wherever you are. Diving deep into a passage and having a more thorough understanding of the word can be challenging - Scripture Scanner makes this process simple and effective.
Scripture Scanner is designed to surface useful context and established interpretations, while encouraging you to compare Scripture, use trusted resources and exercise discernment.
Guided by a belief in the power of Scripture and the work of the Holy Spirit in helping us grow in understanding and faith. We hope and pray that this tool will enrich your study of God's Word and will accommodate your deepening relationship with Jesus.
We encourage critical thinking and invite you to weigh insights, compare passages, and
discuss in your community. Approach this like any biblical source: with discernment and wisdom.
Our aim is not to tell you what you must believe, but to give you new avenues for further exploration.
AI helps Scripture Scanner organise and present relevant study material quickly, but it is not treated as a theological authority. AI can make mistakes, and interpretation is not always straightforward. We encourage users to check the biblical text, consider other resources and approach its study material with discernment. See sources here.
Scripture Scanner was born out of a simple frustration: when you read the Bible and want to understand it properly, you often end up juggling commentaries, websites, podcasts, and note-taking apps. It can feel overwhelming just to get started.
We don't want to replace those rich resources; we wanted to lower the barrier to reaching them. Scripture Scanner is designed for the moments when you're already reading your Bible and want quicker, trustworthy and centralised access to these insights, without opening ten extra tabs or study books.
Our vision is to make deeper biblical understanding accessible to everyone, by using technology that meets you where you already are, how you already approach Bible study and guides you into the context, possible meaning and how this sits within the rest of Scripture.
Scripture Scanner isn't intended to replace your Bible, pastor, church, commentary library or deeper theological study.
It's designed for the space between “I've just read this passage” and “I'd like to understand this better.”
Sometimes that means a quick explanation. Sometimes it leads into original-language study, a commentary, another passage, a conversation with someone in your church or a much deeper study.
Scripture Scanner's job is to help you take that next step.
We plan for big improvements to language analysis, including giving the user more control.
We appreciate everyone uses different bible translations when reading their bible, we plan to introduce many more into the future.
We would like to introduce a new aspect to the app accommodating sharing and community.
We are planning to introduce more comprehensive user customisation to allow Scripture Scanner to fit closer to your personal needs and preferences.
Questions, ideas, or partnership enquiries? We’d love to hear from you.
