Payment & Subscription Data

Payments are securely processed via Stripe (web) and RevenueCat (mobile). We do not store credit card details. RevenueCat may collect basic subscription data (status, renewal date, etc.) to manage access to premium features.

Consent Management

We use analytics and tracking technologies only after obtaining your explicit consent. When you first open the website, you can choose whether to allow analytics. In the mobile app you can disallow consent at any point in settings. You can also change consent settings in app settings on our website.

How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Provide core features and premium content
  • Improve app performance through usage analytics
  • Respond to support queries and technical issues
  • Deliver occasional marketing emails or app notifications (only with your consent)

With your consent, we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to help us understand how Scripture Scanner is used and to improve functionality and user experience. These services collect anonymised data such as session duration, navigation paths, and feature interactions.

All analytics data is processed in accordance with GDPR and other applicable data-protection laws. No personally identifiable information is collected without consent, and analytics cookies or tracking scripts are not activated until you opt in.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell or rent your data. We only share information (where required or given consent) with:

  • Service providers (e.g. Firebase, Stripe, RevenueCat, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, OpenAI) to operate and improve the app.
  • Legal authorities, if required by law or to protect our rights

OpenAI and AI Model Use

Some features of Scripture Scanner use OpenAI’s language models to provide contextual insights. When using these features:

  • Text you input may be securely sent to OpenAI’s API for temporary processing
  • We do not store AI prompts or responses beyond what’s needed to provide the features
  • No identifiable personal data is intentionally sent to OpenAI

We strive to minimise the risk of bias or inappropriate content and do not allow unrestricted input to AI systems.

Data Storage and Retention

All user data is stored securely using Firebase Cloud Firestore, Firebase Authentication. Your data is:

  • Stored in Google Cloud infrastructure
  • Retained indefinitely while your account remains active
  • Deleted promptly upon your request or when you delete your account.

RevenueCat, Stripe (Or other third party depending on where you purchased your subscription) also store relevant data securely according to their own compliance frameworks (e.g. PCI-DSS, SOC 2).

Security Measures

We take your data security seriously. Key security practices include:

  • End-to-end encryption during data transmission (HTTPS/SSL)
  • Encrypted and access-controlled databases (Firebase)
  • Secure authentication flows (Google/Firebase Auth)
  • Isolated cloud environments with tiered permissions
  • Regular security monitoring

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies and local storage may be used to:

  • Keep you signed in
  • Save user preferences
  • Analyse feature usage through services like Firebase Analytics

Third-Party Links

Scripture Scanner may contain links to third-party resources (e.g. Bible tools, social media). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.

Children’s Privacy

Scripture Scanner is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect or store personal data from children under 13 without verified parental consent. If you believe we have done so, please contact us and we will delete the data promptly.
